The Together Festival of electronic music take over Boston and Cambridge this week and I've been invited to take part in a panel discussion this coming FRIDAY (April 6th). We'll be discussing the social implications of cultural musical exchange. It looks like an exciting panel, including Ghislain Poirier, Chief Boima, DJ Ripley, Max Pearl and me. It's organized by the good folks at Pico Picante. Here are the details:

TOPIC:
Investigating the "Post-Geographic": Music and Events That Reach Beyond Traditional Cultural Borders
This discussion will investigate the significance of the "post-geographic" music and events that reach beyond traditional borders, both within Boston and at large. At the heart of this topic: Social implications of global cross-genre experimentation: Who benefits from cultural re-contextualization and how? We see this discussion as a counterpoint to Simon Reynolds' article, "Xenomania: Nothing is Foreign in an Internet Age."
